On January 23, 2025, deputies stopped a vehicle along Swanton Road for traffic violations. During the course of the traffic stop a K-9 scan was conducted resulting in a positive alert. A subsequent search of the vehicle was conducted, and a quantity of cocaine and related paraphernalia was located. The driver of the vehicle, Anthony Michael Ashby, 30 years old, Oakland, was arrested and charged with Possession of Cocaine and Paraphernalia. Ashby was placed under arrest and transported to the Garrett County Detention Center where he was later released on his own recognizance after appearing before a District Court Commissioner.
