Mission Statement
The Garrett County Sheriff's Office exists to serve the community. We do this by protecting life and property, by preventing crime, by enforcing the laws, and by maintaining order for all citizens.
We consider service to our community to be our primary responsibility. We understand that we are one of the few agencies of government that never closes and, therefore, may be called upon to perform many different tasks for the community. If we are unable to provide a requested service, we will recommend an appropriate action or agency. We will always strive to professionally and enthusiastically respond to the community’s needs.
Our values are characteristics and qualities of worth. They are nonnegotiable. We hold our values constantly before us to teach and remind us and the community of our ideals.

The Garrett County Sheriff 's Office is a full service law enforcement agency; a service provider and a custodian of offenders. In this regard, it exists to serve all the people within Garrett County with integrity, respect, fairness, and compassion. The Sheriff's Office is committed to the prevention of crime; the protection of life and property; the preservation of peace and order; the enforcement of laws and ordinances the safeguarding of constitutional rights and the security of prisoners. The foundation is community service, with goals to enhance the quality of life, investigating problems as well as incidents, seeking solutions and fostering a sense of security in communities and individuals. The men and women of this office nurture public trust by holding themselves to the highest standards of performance and ethics. Staffing
The Garrett County Sheriff’s Office has 36 sworn Officers on staff, which includes the Sheriff, Major/Chief Deputy, 2 Captains, 4 Lieutenants, 4 Sergeants, 6 Corporals, 18 Deputies.
Patrol
There are 17 active road patrol units consisting of consisting of 1 Captain, 1 Lieutenant, 4 Corporals, 11 Deputies. The area served includes a population of 30,000 with a total of over 650 square miles of coverage.
Court Process Service
The Sheriff’s Office serves both court systems in Garrett County by serving various types of court processes generated by both the District Court and Circuit Court of Garrett County. The types of processes include both criminal and civil. Types of process served includes, arrest warrants, bench warrants, body attachments, criminal summons, peace orders, protective orders, summons, subpoenas, levies, garnishments, wage attachments, evictions, postings, etc.
