Animal Control & Shelter

The Garrett County Animal Shelter works to find animals permanent homes via both adoptions and animal rescues.  The shelter is a mandatory Spay and Neuter Shelter. All animals adopted from the shelter must be neutered or spayed within 30 days of release from the shelter or within 30 days of reaching the age of six months, whichever is applicable.  The rabies vaccination is required by law in the state of Maryland, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. Garrett County law requires that all dogs and cats be licensed.
