West Virginia Men Arrested on Drug Charges

From the Desk of Sheriff Bryson Meyers: 

On August 19, 2026, the Garrett County Narcotics Task Force, with the assistance of the Garrett County Sheriff’s Office, conducted a traffic stop in Oakland, Maryland. During the traffic stop, a Garrett County Sheriff’s Office K-9 was utilized to conduct a scan of the vehicle, resulting in a positive alert.

 A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the recovery of approximately 20 grams of suspected methamphetamine; approximately 3 grams of suspected crack cocaine; and a quantity of suspected LSD. 

As a result of the investigation, the following individuals were arrested and charged: Jeremy Scott Kosik, 40, of Newburg, West Virginia 

• Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine 

• Possession of Methamphetamine 

• Possession of Cocaine 

• Possession of LSD 

Joshua Dale Blankenship, 36, of Thomas, West Virginia 

• Possession of Methamphetamine 

Kosik and Blankenship were transported to the Garrett County Detention Center for bond hearings. Following their bond hearings, Kosik was held without bond, while Blankenship was released on his own recognizance. The Garrett County Narcotics Task Force is a cooperative enforcement effort between the Garrett County Sheriff’s Office, the Maryland State Police, and the Garrett County State’s Attorney’s Office.
