Oakland Woman Arrested for Assault, Reckless Endangerment, and Firearm Charges

From the desk of Sheriff Bryson Meyers: 

On July 12, 2026, Deputies along with Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division, and Troopers with the McHenry Barrack responded to the 12000 block of Garrett Highway in the Brodak Plaza for a report of a female in the parking lot with a handgun threatening to kill people. 

Upon arrival, deputies were able to locate and secure the individual, identified as Danielle Page Newcomb, 34 years old, Oakland. Through the investigation deputies recovered a loaded 22 handgun, and learned that Newcomb was banging on the door to a business with the handgun threatening to kill individuals inside. 

As a result Detectives arrested and charged Newcomb with the following offenses: 

• 2 counts of First-Degree Assault 

• 2 counts of Reckless Endangerment 

• Prohibited Person in Possession of a Firearm 

• Prohibited Person in Possession of Ammunition 

• Loaded Handgun on Person 

• Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony/Violent Crime 

Newcomb is currently being held in the Garrett County Detention Center pending a bond hearing. Sheriff Meyers stated, "I commend the officers involved in this incident. Their prompt response, and commitment to public safety were instrumental in bringing this case to a successful resolution while ensuring the safety of everyone involved. I am proud of the dedication and exemplary service they demonstrate each day in protecting our community."
