On July 12, 2026, at approximately 5:12 p.m., Deputies responded to Maryland Highway near the intersection of B Street for a motor vehicle collision with injuries. Upon arrival, Deputies located a passenger car that collided with a motorcycle in the eastbound lane of Maryland Highway. As a result of the accident, the driver of the motorcycle was flown by Maryland State Police Aviation (Trooper 5) to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia. The driver and occupants of the passenger car refused medical treatment. The accident remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team.
Assistance at the scene was provided by Southern Garrett Rescue Squad, Garrett County Emergency Services, Oakland Volunteer Fire Department, and Deer Park Volunteer Fire Department.
