Donation Box Theft Investigation Results in Charges During the month of July 2026, deputies investigated two separate incidents involving the theft of Southern Garrett Rescue Squad donation boxes from businesses in Oakland.
On July 4, 2026, a donation box containing cash was stolen from Midway Liquors.
On July 5, 2026, a second donation box containing cash was stolen from Dairy Queen.
As a result of the investigation, deputies identified the suspect as Brandon Keith Gank, 48, of Oakland. Gank has been charged with two counts of theft under $100. Gank was served with a criminal summons issued by a District Court Commissioner charging him with theft.
