𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐀𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐅𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐕𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐥𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐟𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐭 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐟𝐭 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐀𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐅𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐕𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐥𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐟𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐭 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐟𝐭 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 

On July 29, 2026, deputies investigated an incident at the TDEC parking lot on Arch Street in which a vehicle was moved from its original parking space to another location within the lot. The vehicle's owner reported that loose change and several credit cards had been stolen. Investigators also determined that the stolen credit cards had been used at multiple businesses in Oakland. As a result of the investigation, deputies identified Alexander Harris Keller, 21, of Davis, West Virginia, as a suspect. 

Deputies later located Keller at McDonald's in Oakland. While speaking with him, deputies discovered he was in possession of stolen credit cards. Keller fled on foot but was apprehended a short distance away. 

Keller was arrested and charged with the following offenses: 

• Credit Card Theft 

• Motor Vehicle Theft 

• Rogue and Vagabond 

• Theft Scheme 

Keller was transported to the Garrett County Detention Center, where he is currently being held without bond. Investigators believe Keller may have been involved in additional incidents involving vehicles and businesses in the Oakland area. 

Earlier that day, he was also found inside a vehicle by the Oakland Police Department. Anyone who has experienced a similar incident in the Oakland area over the past several days involving a vehicle being entered or property being stolen is asked to contact the Garrett County Sheriff's Office at 301-334-1911.
