From the desk of Sheriff Bryson Meyers:
On June 9, 2026, around 10:00 pm deputies stopped a vehicle along 6th Street in Oakland for traffic violations. During the course of the traffic stop, a Sheriff’s Office K-9 was utilized, and conducted a K-9 scan of the vehicle which resulted in a positive alert. A subsequent search was conducted, which revealed a quantity of methamphetamine.
A passenger in the vehicle, Jack Alfred Kight Jr., 48 years old, Oakland, was arrested and charged with the following offenses:
• Possession of Methamphetamine
• Possession of Paraphernalia
Kight was transported to the Garrett County Detention Center where he was later released on an unsecured bond after appearing before a District Court Commissioner.
