2025 Garrett County Detention Center, Correctional Officer of the Year: Trenton Tasker

Sheriff Meyers and the administration of the Garrett County Detention Center is proud to announce that Correctional Officer Trenton Tasker was recently recognized at the Maryland Correctional Administrator’s Association Conference in Ocean City as the 2025 Garrett County Detention Center, Correctional Officer of the Year. Officer Tasker joined the Garrett County Detention Center in September 2023 and has consistently demonstrated exceptional performance. In addition to his primary duties, he frequently assumes the responsibilities of a shift supervisor, showcasing sound judgment, competence, and outstanding decision-making skills. One of Officer Tasker’s most notable contributions was the recovery of a significant quantity of fentanyl from an incoming arrest, preventing the introduction of this dangerous substance into the facility. The amount seized was sufficient to cause overdose and potentially death to anyone who might have come into contact with it. Officer Tasker is highly respected by both his colleagues and the incarcerated population. His motivation, eagerness to learn, and willingness to take on new challenges set a positive example for others. His attitude is contagious, inspiring his peers and serving as a role model for newer staff members. Through his mentorship and dedication, Officer Tasker continues to strengthen the operations of the Garrett County Detention Center. In recognition of his outstanding performance, professionalism, and commitment to excellence, we are honored to name Correctional Officer Trenton Tasker as the 2025 Correctional Officer of the Year.
