On May 16, 2026, deputies responded to Naylor’s Ace Hardware in Oakland for a reported theft. During the investigation, deputies learned that Sheryl Renae McGinnis, 43 years old, Mt. Storm, West Virginia, stole a roll of copper wire from the store. McGinnis left the store before deputies arrived; however, she was located near Sheetz. As a result of the investigation, deputies recovered the stolen property and arrested McGinnis for theft.
During a search incident to arrest, deputies discovered drug paraphernalia and drug administering equipment.
McGinnis was charged with the following:
• Theft
• Possession of Drug Administering Equipment
• Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
McGinnis was also served with an outstanding arrest warrant obtained by deputies as a result of an investigation in March at Wal-Mart where McGinnis stole various items from the store. McGinnis was transported to the Garrett County Detention Center, where she is currently being pending a bond hearing.
