Honoring Correctional Professionals

Sheriff Meyers and the Administration of the Garrett County Detention would like to honor our Correctional Professionals.

On May 5, 1984, President Ronald Reagan signed a proclamation that established the first week of May as National Correctional Officer and Employee Appreciation Week.

This week, we proudly recognize the dedication, courage, and professionalism of our correctional officers. These men and women uphold safety, support rehabilitation, and serve our communities with strength and integrity every single day. Thank you for your commitment, your resilience, and the often-unseen sacrifices you make. Your work matters, and we appreciate you today and every day.
