On February 6, 2026, around 9:48 p.m., deputies responded to West Center Street in Oakland for a report of a vehicle that ran off the road and into a yard. During the investigation, deputies determined the driver to be Nigel Sanborne Gross Sr, 40 years old, Oakland.
Through the investigation, deputies determined Gross to be operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
Gross became uncooperative with deputies and threatened to assault deputies. Gross continued to be uncooperative and disobeying the commands of the deputies. Deputies had to utilize pepper spray in order control Gross and effect an arrest. Gross was arrested and placed in a police vehicle where he began banging his head on the rear cage in the vehicle. Gross was charged with False Statement, Resisting Arrest, Disorderly, Obstructing & Hindering, and Driving Under the Influence.
Gross was transported to the Garrett County Detention Center where he is currently being held pending a bond hearing.
