On January 6, 2026, at approximately 5:58 P.M. Garrett County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 3000 block of Maryland Highway for a motor vehicle collision. Upon arrival, Deputies located a Nissan Altima that struck a Healthnet Aero Medical Transport Ambulance.
As a result of the collision Roger Lee Paugh, 78 years old, Swanton, Maryland, was pronounced deceased. The driver and occupants of the Ambulance were transported to Garrett Regional Medical Center for treatment.
The investigation is ongoing by the Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team.
On scene assistance was provided by Deer Park Volunteer Fire Department, Southern Garrett EMS, Garrett County Emergency Services, Bittinger EMS, and the State Highway Administration.
