Oakland Woman Arrested After Assaulting Deputy During Disturbance

From the desk of Sheriff Bryson Meyers: 

On November 4, 2025, around 10:30 a.m., deputies responded to the 14000 block of Garrett Highway for a disturbance. Upon arrival, deputies learned that Jodi Lynn Blank, 54 years old, Oakland, was destroying items on her neighbor’s porch, and was attempting to kick her neighbor’s door in. 

Deputies were able to make contact with Blank at her apartment. Blank became argumentative and confrontational with deputies and spat in a Deputy’s face. Deputies then attempted to arrest Blank who began resisting arrest. 

Deputies utilized pepper spray on Blank and were able to place her in handcuffs and place her under arrest for Assault on a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, Disturbing the Peace, Disorderly Conduct, and Attempted Burglary Blank was transported to Garrett Regional Medical Center for treatment and was later transported to the Garrett County Detention Center where she is currently awaiting a bond hearing. The deputy was treated at Garrett Regional Medical Center for injuries. 

Sheriff Meyers stated, “We will not tolerate any incidents in which our deputies are subjected to assault, harassment, or disrespect, including being spat on while performing their duties. Our deputies serve this community with professionalism and dedication, and they deserve to carry out their responsibilities without fear of abuse or assault.”
