On October 26, 2025, around 1230 am, deputies stopped a vehicle along Garrett Highway north of Oakland. During the stop, a Sheriff’s Office K-9 was utilized and conducted a K-9 scan of the vehicle which resulted in a positive alert. A subsequent search of the vehicle was conducted which resulted in the recovery of a quantity of Methamphetamine, Suboxone, and Paraphernalia.
As a result of the traffic stop and search, deputies arrested Jason Carl Bender, 51 years old, Swanton, and Curtis Delaine Plaugher, 31 years old, Virginia, for Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Suboxone, and Possession of Paraphernalia. Both Bender and Plaugher were transported to the Garrett County Detention Center where they were later released on their own recognizance after appearing before a District Court Commissioner.
