On September 6, 2025, deputies responded to the Winner’s Circle along Maryland Highway for a reported theft. The investigation revealed that Tonya June McDaniel, 51 years old, Oakland, entered the store and stole a collection bin containing an undisclosed amount of currency. The container had been placed on the counter to collect funds for the Southern Garrett Rescue Squad. As a result, deputies arrested McDaniel and charged her with Theft under $100.00. McDaniel was transported to the Garrett County Detention Center, where she is currently being held.
