From the desk of Sheriff Bryson Meyers:
On May 30, 2026, just after midnight, deputies responded to the 1400 block of Boiling Springs Road for a report of an individual with a firearm. While deputies were responding and upon their arrival to the area, the individual shot the firearm numerous times.
During the investigation, deputies determined that the individual, Justin Russell Rinker, 44 years old, Oakland, was involved in a physical altercation with occupants of the residence, obtained a firearm, threatened the individuals, and went outside where he shot the firearm.
As a result of the investigation, deputies arrested Rinker and charged him with the following crimes:
• 3 counts of First-Degree Assault
• 3 counts of Reckless Endangerment
Rinker was arrested and transported to the Garrett County Detention Center where he is being held without bond. Rinker is also being held on a detainer from the Belmont County Sheriff’s Office in Ohio for burglary. Troopers with the Maryland State Police, McHenry Barrack, assisted with the call.
