Reedsville, WV Man Arrested for Theft

On May 4, 2026, deputies responded to Naylor’s Ace Hardware in Oakland for a reported theft. During the investigation, deputies determined that Michael James McCartney, 57 years old, Reedsville, West Virginia, stole various tools from the store. McCartney left the area before deputies arrived, and an arrest warrant was later obtained charging him with theft. 

On May 8, 2026, deputies again responded to Naylor’s Ace Hardware for another reported theft. Deputies located McCartney and arrested him on the outstanding warrant related to the previous incident. During a search incident to arrest, deputies discovered additional tools that McCartney had stolen from the store that day. McCartney was charged with two counts of theft. He was transported to the Garrett County Detention Center, where he is currently being held on a $3,000 bond.
