On May 28, 2026, around midnight deputies stopped a vehicle along Maryland Highway for traffic violations. As a result of the traffic stop and investigation, Charles Lee Spiker, 51 years old, Mountain Lake Park, was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and related traffic charges. Spiker was transported to the Garrett County Sheriff’s Office and was later released after signing the citations.
