Sheriff Meyers and the administration of the Garrett County Detention Center would like to congratulate Correctional Officer Colten Jenkins.
Correctional Officer Jenkins was recently recognized at the Maryland Correctional Administrators' Association annual conference in Ocean City as the Garrett County Detention Center Correctional Officer of the Year. Correctional Officer Jenkins has been employed with the Garrett County Detention Center since August of 2021. He has excelled in his position and often fills in the capacity of a shift supervisor. Correctional Officer Jenkins consistently displays sound judgment, competence, and excellent decision-making skills. Correctional Officer Jenkins is the facility's Fire Safety Officer and is also a certified field training officer who is passionate about ensuring that all officers are trained properly.
Correctional Officer Jenkins is a well-respected officer by both his fellow officers and the incarcerated individual population. Correctional Officer Jenkins is a very motivated officer who is always eager to learn and take on new tasks. Correctional Officer Jenkins motivation along with his positive attitude are contagious to his co-workers. Correctional Officer Jenkins is a role model for newer staff, constantly striving to instill his knowledge in them. Correctional Officer Jenkins is an asset to the current and future operations of the Garrett County Detention Center. Correctional Officer Jenkins is commended for his outstanding work performance, dedication, and professionalism.
