On April 16, 2025, around 11:00 pm, deputies responded to Walmart for a suspicious person in the parking lot entering numerous vehicles. Upon the deputy's arrival, they made contact with the person, who they identified as Devin Wayne Guthrie, 36 years old, Oakland. The investigation revealed that Guthrie had been walking through the parking lot and was observed to be entering multiple different vehicles in the parking lot, rummaging through the vehicles, and was observed inside the vehicles. Deputies placed Guthrie under arrest for Rogue and Vagabond, and he was transported to the Garrett County Detention Center, where he is currently being held pending a bond hearing. Sheriff Meyers would like to remind residents to lock and secure their vehicles and belongings when their vehicle is left unattended.
