On March 21, 2025, deputies responded to the 3000 block of Maryland Highway for a reported disturbance. Upon arrival, deputies learned that 3 individuals arrived at a residence to repossess a vehicle. The owner exited the residence, brandished a pistol pointing it at the individuals, threatening them. As a result of the investigation, deputies arrested Michael Eric Paugh, 61 years old, Oakland, for First Degree Assault and Second Degree Assault. Paugh was transported to the Garrett County Detention Center where he is currently being held without bond.
