Deputies Respond to A Domestic Assault in Oakland

From the desk of Sheriff Bryson Meyers:

On March 30, 2025, deputies responded to the 6000 block of Garrett Highway, Oakland, Maryland, for a reported domestic assault. Prior to the deputy’s arrival, they learned that Daryl James Goodall Jr., age 35, Oakland, had assaulted family members, stolen a vehicle, and fled toward West Virginia. Investigation revealed that Goodall had assaulted individuals at the residence and then stole a 2023 Hyundai that belonged to a family member. It was learned that the vehicle ultimately wrecked along Fox Road near the Aurora Pike in Preston County, West Virginia. With the assistance from deputies with the Preston County Sheriff’s Office and troopers from the West Virginia State Police, Goodall was located and arrested in Preston County. Goodall is being charged with First Degree Assault, 2 counts of Assault Second Degree, Motor Vehicle Theft, and Theft $25k-$100k, and is awaiting extradition back to Garrett County from West Virginia. Sheriff Meyers commented that the arrest was made by a combined effort between officers from Garrett County and Preston County, and I would like to thank the Preston County Sheriff’s and the West Virginia State Police for their assistance and cooperative effort, bringing this matter to a quick and successful outcome.
