Accident Man Arrested with Half Kilo of Cocaine

On March 5, 2025, Detectives with the Garrett County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Task Force arrested John Richard Henson, 42 years old, Accident, for multiple felony drug violations. Around 1130 a.m., Deputies and Detectives stopped a vehicle, which Henson was operating, along Avilton Lonaconing Road at the intersection of National Pike. A search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of a Half Kilo of Cocaine (500 grams), having a street value of $50,000.00. A subsequent Search Warrant was conducted at a residence along Collier Road. As a result of the search, Detectives recovered additional Cocaine, and Drug Packaging Material. Detectives also seized numerous firearms, $204.00 in United States Currency, a 2016 Chrysler 300, and a 2018 Jeep Renegade. John Richard Henson was arrested and charged with the following offenses: Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine, Possession of Large Volume of Cocaine, Possession of Firearms in Relation to a Drug Trafficking Crime, Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine within 1000 Feet of a School Zone, and Possession of Cocaine. Henson was transported to the Garrett County Detention Center, where he is currently being held without bond. Narcotics Detectives were assisted by Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division, Crime Scene Investigator, and Patrol Deputies. Sheriff Meyers would like to commend the hard work of the Detectives for removing such a large quantity of Cocaine from the streets of Garrett County. Sheriff Meyers stated, “This will have a huge impact on the drug trade within our communities and the surrounding areas. The Sheriff’s Office will continue to work diligently to investigate controlled dangerous substance violations and will continue to provide resources and investigative efforts to seize illicit drugs from entering our communities.” The Garrett County Narcotics Task Force is a cooperative enforcement effort between the Garrett County Sheriff’s Office and the Garrett County State’s Attorney’s Office.
