On July 12, 2024, Detectives with the Garrett County Narcotics Task Force, Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division, and Patrol Deputies executed a Search Warrant along the 100 block of Decatur Street, Mountain Lake Park.
During the search, Detectives seized approximately 21 grams of Methamphetamine, having a street value of around $2,100.00, Digital Scales, Suboxone, Hypodermic Needles, and Drug Paraphernalia. Detectives also seized $373.00 in United States Currency.
As a result of the investigation, Zachary Alexander Merrill, 30 years old, Grantsville, and Franklin Lane Cogley, 49 years old, Mountain Lake Park were both arrested and charged with controlled dangerous substance violations. Merrill was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Suboxone, Possession of Paraphernalia, and Obstructing and Hindering. Cogley was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, and Possession of Paraphernalia.
Both Merrill and Cogley were transported to the Garrett County Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
Sheriff Meyers stated, “I would like to commend the hard work and dedication of the Detectives and Deputies in their continued cooperative efforts in seizing illicit drugs and keeping the community of Garrett County a safe place to live and raise a family.”
