37 Grams of Methamphetamine Seized on February 12, 2024

On February 12, 2024, uniformed deputies were assisted by members of the Garrett County Narcotics Task Force and stopped a vehicle along Third Street in Oakland for traffic violations. 

The driver of the vehicle was identified as William Charles Lewis, 26 years old, Terra Alta, West Virginia. During the traffic stop, a Garrett County Sheriff’s Office K-9 was utilized and conducted a K-9 scan of the vehicle which resulted in a positive alert. 

A search of Lewis and the vehicle resulted in the recovery of numerous individual baggies of Methamphetamine, a digital scale, packaging materials, Suboxone, and $61 in United States Currency. The total amount of methamphetamine seized was approximately 37 grams. 

Lewis was arrested and charged with Possession With Intent To Distribute Methamphetamine, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Possession of Suboxone. 

Lewis was transported to the Garrett County Detention Center and is currently being held without bond after an initial appearance at the District Court Commissioner’s Office. 

The Garrett County Narcotics Task Force is a cooperative enforcement effort between the Garrett County Sheriff’s Office, Maryland State Police, and the Garrett County State’s Attorney’s Office.
